CRAFTING WITH CARE, FOR A BETTER TOMORROW

In today’s world, caring for the planet is no longer a choice—it’s a responsibility we are proud to embrace.

At Bernard, we are deeply aware of the social and environmental challenges facing global industries, especially fashion.

This awareness has driven our decision to step away from fast fashion as much as we can. We support local brands that use sustainable materials designed to last, and we focus on educating and empowering our clients to cultivate a lasting personal style.

We want fashion to be more purposeful, responsible, and timeless.

THE CARBON FOOTPRINT OF OUR STYLING SESSIONS

Our virtual Color Styling Sessions usually involve around four hours of Zoom calls and the exchange of five emails packed with images and attachments. While this might seem harmless, here's the reality:

one-hour Zoom call can produce between 150 to 1,000 grams of CO₂—the equivalent of driving 1 to 7 kilometers in a car.

Now, for a typical four-hour session, that’s about the same emissions as driving 24 kilometers.

Emails? You bet they count too!

Each one generates around 50 grams of CO₂, about the same as driving 200 meters.

So, five emails would be like driving another 1.25 kilometers.

Altogether, a single virtual session could emit the equivalent of driving over 25 kilometers.

TAKING ACTION: OUR COMMITMENT TO BALANCE THE SCALE

We invite our clients to join us in compensating for the carbon emissions of our virtual interactions.

One simple way?

Support organizations dedicated to reforestation efforts that help restore and protect our planet.

Here’s a list of foundations you might consider supporting:

  • One Tree Planted: A nonprofit organization focused on global reforestation. They facilitate tree planting with just a small donation.

  • Trees for the Future: Increases the livelihoods of rural communities by revitalizing degraded lands and planting trees.

It takes bravery to reject fast fashion's fleeting appeal and embrace sustainable choices that reflect our values.
